About Us

 

Established in 2010 by Helaina Callahan, Sparrow Dance of Southern, WI is dedicated to conveying the many facets of life, and bringing vitality into communities through the performing arts.

 

Our professional team of choreographers love working with talented dancers in the surrounding area.  We have enjoyed coming up with new and innovative works and continue to bring our audience a fresh look at many genres of dance.

 

Why We Are Called Sparrow Dance

 

The Sparrow is a symbol of eternal hope and represents the love of God for even the "least" among us - Matthew 10:29-31:  "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.  And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  So don't be afraid: you are worth more than many sparrows."

 

Some other attributes a sparrow represents are joy, creativity, inclusion, simplicity, community, protection, friendliness and productivity.  These are all traits Sparrow Dance strives to incorporate in all that we do.  

 

We also believe everyone can make a difference and urge individuals to do their part in being good stewards of the earth.  That is why we send a portion of the proceeds we receive from ticket sales of our all company performances to the charity of our choice, in hopes of making a difference.
